2.5.1 OUR GOTEACH VISION
By 2030, we aim to empower all young people reached by our strategic partners to attain the employability skills necessary to live an independent life
Employability in this context is defined as a set of achievements – skills, knowledge, and a certain mindset – that makes young people more likely to gain employment and be successful in their chosen occupations, which in turn benefits them, the workforce, the community and the economy. This requires young people to be aware of their capabilities and to develop expertise and habits (including life-skills) so that they can make informed choices and successfully adapt to changing environments.
2.5.2 OUR GOTEACH MISSION
Equip young people with the skills and professional interactions needed to prepare them for the world of work
&
Collaborate in multi-stakeholder partnerships and global/local networks to scale GoTeach solutions
OUR GOTEACH GOALS
As a longstanding partner to the United Nations, we support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The following SDGs are closely aligned with our GoTeach program:
- SDG 4 I Quality Education
- SDG 5 I Gender equality
- SDG 8 I Decent Work and Economic Growth
- SDG 17 I Partnerships for the Goals
Our related GoTeach goals are defined as follows:
SDG 4 & 8: Enable children and young people to fulfill their potential by developing their outlook, life skills, and capacity to reach their aspirations, and by connecting them to the world of work
SDG 5: Drive gender equality and take action to empower girls and young women
SDG 17: Offer best practices and multi-stakeholder partnerships to scale solutions (collective impact approach)
In 2023 the strategic focus of GoTeach is increasing the impact by ensuring a mimimum of three interventions:
GoTeach encourages multi-stakeholder partnerships with other companies that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise and technology. In 2017, SOS launched the joint initiative YouthCan! in order to expand the support offered by DHL Group to additional partners. Multi-stakeholder partnerships are crucial for the success of GoTeach – the exchange of knowledge and experience locally and globally accelerates learning, ultimately benefiting the young people who participate. The success of the program relies significantly on the exchange of knowledge and experience between employees and young people. Further to this, a partnership between the private and public sector is an important component in continuous growth and the collaboration to improve sustainability and development around the world. The goal we have set ourselves is so huge that we cannot make this vision a reality on our own. Initiatives like YouthCan! are the best way to achieve the larger GoTeach vision, fostering cooperation with others by offering best practices and scaling solutions.
2.5.2.1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION

DHL Group’s Strategy 2025 – Delivering Excellence in a Digital World goes well beyond meeting customers’ needs, the company has cemented sustainability into every part of our business strategy. DHL Group’s Sustainability Roadmap guides the company in three key areas: environment, social, and governance. By pursuing clear objectives in each area, DHL Group strives to run clean operations that protect the climate, provides a great place to work for all, and be a highly trusted company and partner. DHL Group creates lasting impact in communities through its Go programs. GoTeach is one of the main Group-wide programs to drive social impact in the communities in which DHL Group operates through long-term, community-based partnerships and employee volunteering.
SOS Children Villages' Strategy 2030 – Empowering Young People: Young people without parental care and those at risk of losing it are among the most vulnerable groups in society. They lack the support to successfully navigate a disruptive, competitive world towards social and professional inclusion. External trends like high youth unemployment, the effects of climate change, forced displacement and high individualism only add further pressure to the challenges they face. Youth empowerment is by necessity a cornerstone of SOS Children’s Villages' Strategy 2030. Those leaving care need the right skills to navigate their independent lives. Significant steps have been taken to develop employability skills, to strengthen education and to give young people a voice through advocacy. SOS Strategy 2030 acknowledges the need to build partnerships in these areas to achieve transformative change at a scale that cannot be achieved in isolation.
Teach For All’s 25-year vision: Every child is born with enormous potential. But around the world, hundreds of millions of children can only dream of realizing that potential, simply because of where they were born or how much their family earns. The obstacles they face -poverty, hunger, discrimination, trauma, and school systems that do not provide them with the education they need to thrive - are overwhelming. When millions of children aren’t learning, it affects us all - perpetuating poverty, dividing societies, and weakening economies. The vision Teach For All is working toward is one in which all children have the opportunity to fulfill their potential - both to shape better futures for themselves and for the world they’ll inherit.
