YouthCan! also offers a worldwide scalable digital platform (YouthLinks), where young people can connect with their mentors and trainers online. This innovative approach allows young people and mentors to connect, share materials, create networks and provide mutual support. Based on Facebook Workplace, this tool helps us reach young people from remote communities, while breaking geographical and time barriers.

YouthLinks uses the power of technology to strengthen young peoples skills trough training, mentorship and networking opportunities, supporting them in becoming self-reliant.

YouthLinks - What we do

Especially throughout challenging months of 2020, where global face-to-face activites had to be temporarily put on hold, the need to use digital means to connect young people with volunteers from the corporate side has been of enlarged need. Due to having had the YouthLinks-programme pillar put in place, YouthCan! could not only hold its offers to young people up, but even grow and scale total outreach (find more information here).

YouthLinks builds on the following functionalities:

YouthLinks - how does it work

In the past, YouthLinks mainly build on the use of the Facebook Workplace Platform, to safely connect young people with volunteers from corporate partners on local, regional and global level. Due to limitations of the Workplace Platform, SOS Children's Villages decided to build a new, advanced and professionalized virtual space to host activites - YouthLinks 2.0:

The new virtual platform is already fully set-up and being piloted in 8 countries globally from September to December 2021. Global roll-out of the tool is planned to be initiated in early 2022.
