Mentor - Train - Practice
In order to realise change in young people’s lives, a multidimensional approach is key. That’s why GoTeach combines the three programme pillars, Mentor – Train – Practice, into one holistic programme. Ideally, different activities from the three pillars are offered, responding to the individual needs of young people and the possibilities at DHL. GoTeach offers a blended approach of online and face-to-face activities.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
- A combination of mentorship and practice activities has proven especially efficient, and long-term activities are more efficient than one-off events.
- Activities should be implemented together with young people, based on their individual needs and interests.
- Partners should look for solutions how to best bridge geographical barriers (schools, villages in remote areas).
- As the main reference persons of the young people, caregivers should be kept informed about the programme. This can be done on an individual basis or through information events before activities start. They should also be invited to graduation ceremonies and involved when conflicts need to be solved.
- The programme will not be perfect from the beginning. Stay open-minded and give stakeholders (children, young people, volunteers, caregivers, etc.) the chance to give feedback to continuously improve the activities.
