Mentorship
By volunteering their time and energy in mentoring sessions, DHL employees can have a positive impact on the lives of young people and provide support as youngsters transition from school to work. Mentors provide mentees with first-hand insight into professional experiences, but also foster their personal development, helping to build trust and and a sense of self-esteem among the mentees. Here, middle and senior managers at DHL focus on various matters relevant to employability (career and/or entrepreneurship orientation) and provide support that takes into account the dreams, interests, abilities and needs of the young people involved.
Duration: Long-term interaction over several months or even years (preferable: one regular mentoring session per month)

How to set up a GoTeach Mentorship
- SOS and DHL coordinate the numbers of volunteers and young people interested and willing to take part in the program
- Broad session content and suggested duration are defined between DHL and SOS based on the needs of the young people
- Training session for DHL volunteers?
- SOS and DHL arrange initial meet-and-greet event for all interested volunteers and youngsters. The first face-to-face meetings are then agreed upon.

DID YOU KNOW?
Mentoring requires leadership skills and a lot of empathy. Make sure all participants are really committed before deciding on suitable tandem pairings.

• Mentoring relationships requires time, patience, commitment and a genuine interest in helping young people to develop
• Calls, Skype, WhatsApp, etc. can supplement the face-to-face mentoring
