3.5.1 Internal and External Recognition
3.5.1.1 Through the GoTeach project, SOS Children’s Villages, Teach For All and DHL Group are supporting several of the SDGs by giving vulnerable young people the chance for a better and more sustainable future.
GoTeach promotes not only dialogue between participating young people and DHL Group employees, but also dialogue between the company and society, and in doing so is making a lasting contribution to sustainable development. The achievements of the GoTeach program have received internal and external recognition over the past years.
The collaboration between SOS Children’s Villages International and DHL Group has served on multiple occasions as a best-practice example and received widespread external recognition. It was featured in the Global Compact International Yearbook 2014, was actively involved in the European Development Days in 2013 and 2015, waas presented at the Global Child Forum in Sao Paolo and featured in a Global Child Forum blog post. GoTeach was invited to present at a UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa) meeting in Addis Ababa and in the International Youth Policy Forum in Bangkok, both in 2017. In addition, SOS Children’s Villages, DHL and the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations hosted a side event entitled “Decent Employment for Young People at Risk” following the ECOSOC Partnership Forum in New York in 2018. In 2019, SOS Children's Villages International won the European Commission's European Sustainability Award for the Program GoTeach in partnership with Deutsche Post DHL Group.
3.5.1.1 Awards 2019:
- Two CEO Awards 2018 won in the category Living Responsibility/GoTeach: (1) for the DHL Mentor Program at DGF India in cooperation with Teach For India, (2) SOS partnership in Nigeria
- Winner of the Global Functions Awards 2019 in Germany in the category Living Responsibility for “Mentoring4Integration”, finalist in Germany for “10 Year Anniversary of GoTeach”
- CSB Awards 2019: Special Recognition for 10 years of GoTeach
- King Felipe VI of Spain presented the Group with a CODESPA Award in the category "Solidarity Company" for its partnership with SOS CV in 02/2019
- EU Sustainability Award from the European Commission
3.5.1.2 Awards 2018:
- DHL Express Nigeria won a Gold Stevie Award for CSR Program of the Year in the Middle East and Africa
- CoRe Award for GoTeach Lebanon: trilateral partnership between DHL, Teach for Lebanon and SOS Children’s Villages
3.5.1.3 Awards 2016:
- Teach For All presented DHL Group with its second annual Tiger Award during its 2016 Global Conference. The Tiger Award honors supporters who have had a profound impact on Teach For All, each of whom is deeply committed to Teach For All’s mission of ensuring all children have the opportunity to achieve an excellent education.
