7.3.1 The Role of Management
7.3.1.1 It is important to specify the involvement of (Country) Managers at different phases of the program - and define their role and contribution
GoTeach Phase / Space / Role | Description of Country Managers' involvement / contribution |
Kick-off events
& Relaunch events |
Country Managers are key participants in this type of event as they are responsible for presenting the company to new partners. They also sign the local agreement that defines the GoTeach partnership.
Their input during workshops with young people is also very helpful. It is important to encourage their involvement and secure their long-term commitment to the program. |
Active participation as a volunteer | Country Managers also participate as volunteers in the various GoTeach activities, either as workshop facilitators, mentors or panel members (talking about their professional experience) or by welcoming new interns on their first day in the office.
It is important to recognize their participation as a GoTeach Volunteer or GoTeach Champion, depending on the level of participation. Their experiences should also be documented so they can inspire other members of their local SMT or other CMs at regional/global level. |
GoTeach Supporter |
Country Managers support the execution of GoTeach initiatives at the local level, providing the main resources involved (staff, materials, spaces, budget, etc.). They are also instrumental in speeding up and facilitating the processes necessary for the program such as approvals, permits, reports, presentations etc. |
GoTeach Promoter |
It is important to have committed Country Managers who also promote the program locally, establishing it as a priority for the company's sustainability strategy, facilitating the participation of volunteers, approving positions that can be filled by young people as interns. They should take advantage of every opportunity to encourage other leaders to be actively involved and lead by example. |
Sharing GoTeach |
Both internally and externally, it is important that the Country Managers (as the main leaders of each BU in the country) represent GoTeach in different situations, whether with other local, regional or global leaders, other companies and organizations, or with representatives of the public sector, customers, suppliers, etc. We can also take advantage of inviting them to networking events so that they can talk about the program from their experience and continue to position it as a way of positively impacting young people, addressing youth unemployment and promoting support for our main GoTeach partners. |
