How to create a contact list
GoTeach contact list consists of all the people who are involved with GoTeach in each country and region and on global level. It also outlines their responsibilities or roles in GoTeach.
Currently GoTeach Global is made up of four organisations and still growing; DHL, Germany Refugee Program, Teach for All and UK Foundation. Therefore, contact lists or records are created differently among and between the partnerships and put up online for any of the organizations within GoTeach to be able to access whenever need arises.
If you want to start GoTeach in your country, you may want to talk to the Country Manager of your local DHL Business Unit(s), who will help you to choose two or more coordinators who will be the responsible for planning, implementation and reporting of empoyability activities. Ideally, the chosen person/people should have the following qualities:
- Can juggle their work and that of coordinating a team
- Love volunteering especially with young people
- Are self-driven and can motivate others to volunteer as well
Regional Contacts from Teach For All and SOS Children’s Villages
From the SOS Children’s Villages side, the National Director would be a great contact person since he/she can help you choose SOS Staff who would be the best candidates for coordination of GoTeach.
In most countries, the person or people chosen to drive GoTeach from the SOS side are usually people already working directly with youth. Some of these people include Child and Youth Development Coordinators (CYDCs) and Counselors. However, coordinators are not limited to youth coordinators only. as long as a person exhibits the above mentioned qualities, they may be chosen as coordinators.
For national Teach For All organisations, the CEO would also be great to help choose coordinators from Teach for All who also exhibit the above qualities.
Having the following in your contact list for GoTeach in your Country is very advantageous:
- A HR-point of contact, as he/she is aware of internship opportunities and has contacts in DHL and out of DHL that can be very helpful. Also, he/she has a clear idea of the abilities of the entire team hence can help mobilise people for activities
- Someone in Finance (both from DHL/SOS Children’s Villages) -he/she can help with finance mobilization for GoTeach activities. He/she can also help educate the GoTeach Team (from DHL, SOS Children’s Villages, Teach for All) about procedures needed to get finances for activities. He/she is the best person to hold a session on finances for the young people
- If he/she is not the actual coordinator, it would be great to have the SOS Children’s Villages Program Coordinator on board- he/she has access to the youth and is already doing programs with them
