7.5.4.1.1 Welcome to GoTeach!

Welcome to GoTeach!

Thank you for signing up as a GoTeach volunteer! Volunteering your specialist skills and strengths to the local GoTeach activities will help us make a sustainable impact in our local communities.

The GoTeach mission is to improve the employability of children and young people who are socio-economically disadvantaged due to poverty, loss of family and fleeing.  Our lead partnerships are with the Teach for All Network, SOS Children’s Villages International and other support partners.  

DPDHL has committed to contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as part of GoTeach we will contribute to:

  • Goal 1 - No Poverty
  • Goal 4 - Quality Education
  • Goal 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Goal 10  - Reduce Inequalities and
  • Goal 17 - Partnerships for the Goals.

7.5.4.1.2 What is GoTeach?

As part of the DPDHL group’s strategy and at the centre of the three bottom lines to be Investment of Choice, Employer of Choice and Supplier of Choice is Living Responsibility. DPDHL Groups mission as part of Living Responsibility is to become the benchmark for responsible business.  Living Responsibility includes Responsible Business Practice, Shared Value and   Corporate Citizenship which in turn comprises of GoGreen; GoHelp and GoTeach.

GoTeach is the partnership with the Teach for All Network and SOS Children’s Villages International aimed at improving the employability of children and young people who are socio-economically disadvantaged due to poverty, loss of family and fleeing.   Through our employees we are able to enable engagements with children and youth to bring the world of work to life by sharing their experience and expertise.

In every country the local DHL and SOS Children’s Villages and / or Teach for All Network Partners plan and implement activities together. Creating and implementing plans applicable to the local context in the countries and local communities.

7.5.4.1.3 Why am I offered this volunteering opportunity?

Every DPDHL Group Employee is encouraged to contribute to its local community in a sustainable manner, by volunteering time, sharing skills and strengths to improve their communities and contribute to the group’s objectives.

Your strengths and expert skills could be shared with young people to motivate, teach and share your skills, career journey and life lessons to inspire young people to identify and reach for their goals.  

7.5.4.1.4 What are the key benefits of volunteering?

7.5.4.1.5 What opportunities are there for me and what could I have to offer?

As a Volunteer, you may want to be part of the planning process for GoTeach in your country or contribute to specific activities planned for the year.

A range of activities could be shared with you and your strengths and skills could be matched to the activities you select to be part of.  Discussion with the local GoTeach coordinating team about the plans and volunteering opportunities would be highly recommended.  

7.5.4.1.6 What do I need to do to get involved and what is expected of me?
  1. Sign up as a GoTeach Volunteer
  2. Review the local plan and identify which activities you would be best matched to volunteer fo
  3. Read through and understand the Child safeguarding policies for the partner organizations and where necessary sign agreements
  4. Understand what is expected of you to volunteer as part of the specific activities
  5. Prepare for volunteering activity
  6. Engage with the young people
  7. Complete and evaluation form
  8. Continue Volunteering!  


7.5.4.1.7 Code of conduct / Child Safeguarding?

As part of volunteer orientation a child safeguarding session will be arranged for volunteers to participate in and understand some of the responsibilities as a volunteer when dealing with children and young people.

Agreements may need to be signed in respect of photography of the children and young people with the safety of the child in mind.

7.5.4.1.8 Description of a  volunteers, supporters, Champions, Ambassadors

7.5.4.1.8.1 Volunteers –

GoTeach volunteers deliver GoTeach Activities. Acting as role models to young people, facilitating, hosting and take part in local GoTeach activities.

  • A volunteer supports 1 – 2 activities each year
  • Volunteering at least 1 hour


7.5.4.1.8.2 Supporters–

GoTeach supporters allow the execution of the program as part of its regular functions or promote the program at the local/ regional level e.g. contact in Finance or purchasing department, Country Manager, Regional CEO.

  • Supporters are nominated by the GoTeach Regional Managers


7.5.4.1.8.3 Champions –

GoTeach Champions make regular commitment to GoTeach through mentoring or participating in regular activities over the year.

  • Colleagues who make meaningful commitment to young people
  • Supporting multiple or regular activities each year – more than 3 activities each year
  • Volunteers in excess of 20 hours


7.5.4.1.8.1 Ambassadors –

GoTeach Ambassador leads the program for their country. Plan, coordinate and execute GoTeach activities, motivate and invite other colleagues to get involved

  • Leads GoTeach
  • Influences others to get involved
  • Organizes activities
  • Formally responsible for delivering GoTeach


7.5.4.1.8.2 Recognition of GoTeach volunteers, supporters, champions, ambassadors
7.5.4.1.8.2.1 Volunteers -

are recognized at the end of every year with a GoTeach Volunteer Stamp for their Certified Passports and receive a message from the GoTeach Regional Manager and Country Managers.

7.5.4.1.8.2.2 Supporters –

are recognized at the end of the year with a GoTeach Certificate, a message from the GoTeach Regional Manager and Country Manager.

7.5.4.1.8.2.3 Champions –

are recognized at the end of each year with a GoTeach Champion Stamp for their certified passport, a message from the GoTeach Regional Manager and Country Manager.

7.5.4.1.8.2.4 Ambassadors –

are recognized with a GoTeach Pin card, a certificate from GoTeach Global (Monika Schaller) and a GoTeach Ambassador Email Signature
