7.5.2 Step 2: Understanding Needs of the Target Group

Needs of the target group

7.5.2.1 Understanding the needs of the target group[edit | edit source]

The GoTeach target group includes children aged 7 years (as part of the Teach For All Network Partnership) and older and young people aged 15 years and older (as part of the SOS Children's Villages and TFAll Partnership). Working with the Fellows (as part of the Teach For All Partnership) is also an essential component.

The following are considered in this context:

  • Understanding the needs of the target group (young people / children / refugees) by conducting a needs assessment - please find guides on games and how to conduct the needs assessment attached below
  • Preparing the outcomes of the assessment for presentation to the DHL team as part of the planning process assists the teams in addressing the needs of young people in the planned activities.
  • Understanding the challenges of girls and learn how to support girls to strengthen gender equality (SDG 5) – please take part in the virtual, web-based Global Girls’ Education course offered by Teach For All. The course is open to all. You do not have to be affiliated with Teach For All in order to view or take the course. The course will help you to learn more about challenges facing girls around the world and deepen your expertise in girls’ education best practices, including girls’ empowerment.
