External communications:

  • Press releases – This communicates the news you are announcing.  This should be of interest to the media and/or local communities, and would typically take the form of a launch of a partnership, activity with widespread impact, human interest angles etc.
  • Media briefings/ roundtables/ fireside chats – An event that brings together journalists whom you would want to share your newsworthy GoTeach announcement with. Media who have been targeted to attend should be in a position to spread your news to target audiences whom you would like to reach out to. A DHL spokesperson and a representative from the partner organization will typically helm the activity.
  • Bylined articles/ content hub articles (www.lot.dhl or delivered.com) – Thought leadership articles that positions DPDHL Group as benchmark for responsible business and a leader in corporate citizenship. Such articles may speak issues, challenges and trends on the topic of Corporate Citizenship, and mention the GoTeach program as part of the story. Articles need to be attributed by the local GoTeach country spokesperson (this could be a Country Manager).  The articles will then be pitched to a media publication house, amplified via social media and published across DHL or partners’ content sites.
  • Interviews – An interview opportunity can be proactively pitched to a publication OR a journalist may approach DHL for an interview to talk about the GoTeach program at DHL, about any local activities that have taken place and/or the effectiveness of the program.
  • Social media - You may leverage your own personal and/or country social media accounts to spread awareness of the GoTeach activities your teams are engaged in. However, please note that the photography guidelines (see 8.8) apply to any images you post. Do remember to use #goteach as a hashtag, and any other hashtags according to the campaign or your partner organization’s preference.
  • Participation in career fairs or volunteering fairs – Communication about our program i.e. to attract new employees, volunteers, or partners in the business community.
  • Expert lectures in summits (i.e. Global refugee forum)– To share the idea of GoTeach and DPDHL Group plans and strategy to strengthen the employability of youth around the world

Twitter/ Facebook/ Instagram/ Line/ Whatsapp/ WeChat/:

Do remember to include the following handles in your posts (where relevant):

  • @DPDHL News
  • @sos_children
  • @TeachForAll

Internal communications:

You are strongly encouraged to address the 5W1H (Who, Where, Why, When, What and How) where possible when writing a story for internal distribution. Quotes from volunteers, participants, partners and/or SMT in attendance should also be included.  Accompanying pictures, graphics or multimedia will be added bonuses.

Your internal communications may be published on local intranet platforms (e.g. MyNet), internal newsletters, internal apps (e.g. MyNet Connect if it is available in your country) and/or Yammer pages (country, global, GoTeach group). Content-wise this may cover:

  • Post-GoTeach event story
  • Interviews with beneficiaries and volunteers
  • Internal email updates to colleagues about upcoming activities
  • Infographics on how volunteers have helped local beneficiaries

Remember to include #GoTeach as a hashtag at the end of your posts. Some relevant groups you may post in include GoTeach, GoTeach Asia Pacific and Employee Volunteering.

Timeliness: When to organize media interactions

  • The launch of a new GoTeach partnership
  • A powerful human interest story
  • A significant milestone in a country partnership e.g. 10 year anniversary
  • A visiting senior level executive to a GoTeach activity (and you want to leverage this visit to create awareness about DPDHL Group’s Corporate Citizenship initiative and GoTeach program)
  • Impressive figures reached in context with general interest (i.e. amount of volunteers engaged or employed refugees during the refugee crisis)
  • World days in regard of the context of GoTeach (i.e. World Refugee Day, World Youth Day)
